J. Michael Marks, managing partner at Indian River Consulting Group, named a Fellow by the Distribution Research and Education Foundation (DREF) of the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) in 2001, has accepted the invitation of the DREF Board of Directors to serve a second four-year term.

The DREF Board of Directors established the Fellows program in 1999 to acknowledge individuals who have made and can continue to make significant intellectual contributions to the field of wholesale distribution. As its inaugural Fellow the Board tapped Adam J. Fein, Ph.D., President of Pembroke Consulting. Named Fellow in 2004 was Neil Gholson, Deloitte Consulting LLP’s Global Segment Leader, Wholesale Distribution. Brent R. Grover, President of Evergreen Consulting, LLC, was named Fellow in March 2005.

During a term, DREF Fellows work with the Foundation to develop and bring new research studies to the wholesale distribution industry.

Marks is the co-author of DREF’s book What’s Your Plan? Smart Salesforce Compensation in Wholesale Distribution. He developed DREF’s audio-CD series Profiles in Wholesale Distribution Leadership and is currently at work on a new research project about distributor-supplier relationships, set for release as a DREF book later this year.

Established by NAW in 1967, DREF has produced a distinguished body of work, consistent with its mission of sponsoring studies of strategic management issues affecting the wholesale distribution industry.
