IEHA Announces 2010 Award Winners
The International Executive Housekeepers Association, Inc. is pleased to announce its 2010 Award Winners, which were presented during IEHA’s 44th Annual Conference and Convention & 80th Anniversary Celebration in November in Orlando, Florida. Each of these prestigious awards is presented bi-annually to those individuals who have made notable contributions to IEHA and the cleaning industry as a whole.
IEHA’s most coveted award, the Margaret Barnes Diamond Award, which serves to recognize an IEHA member who has continually made outstanding contributions to the housekeeping industry, IEHA and its advancement over an extended period of time, was presented to J. Darrel Hicks, REH. Hicks, who is the Director of Environmental Services at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri, has been in the housekeeping management field for 30 years, is a past president of IEHA (2006-08) and authored the booklet Infection Prevention for Dummies.
IEHA’s Honorary Membership Award, which is presented to individuals who have made notable contributions to the housekeeping management field, was presented to Bob Robinson, Sr. A 30-year veteran of the cleaning industry, Robinson is President of Kaivac, Inc., inventor of the Kaivac no-touch cleaning system and one of the founding fathers of Integrated Cleaning and Measurement™ (ICM™).
The William D. Joyner Special Achievement Award, given in honor of William D. Joyner, an IEHA member who truly exemplified the word “achievement” was presented to Allen Rathey. Rathey, who has over 25 years experience in the cleaning industry, is currently an industry consultant who offers advice and marketing services through his communications company, InstructionLink/JanTrain, Inc., and president and founder of the Housekeeping Channel website (www.housekeepingchannel.com). Rathey is dedicated to producing better and healthier indoor environments and educating the public about the life-enhancing and health benefits of effective cleaning.
