Housekeeping employees at the Pikeville Medical Center were given a celebration by various departments within the hospital. Identifying it as Housekeeping Appreciation Week, nearly 70 custodial employees took part in games, good laughs and some well-deserved downtime. According to an article in the Medical Leader, many employees also took turns reading from the "bragging board," which consists of several postcards and notes from various departments throughout the hospital thanking the housekeeping staff for doing such excellent work.
Workers comment that the downtime is a wonderful way to get everyone together in a positive way. "You have to keep a smile in order to keep working hard and we have no problem doing that," said housekeeping employee Mary Walters.
