Gift Helps Goodwill Grow Jan/San
Goodwill Industries of Sioux City, Iowa, received a gift to help them buy some new equipment. The American Legion Foundation of Iowa awarded $2,750 to Goodwill to purchase an industrial micro-fiber scrubber machine for their janitorial project.
Goodwill says they contract with various businesses and organizations to provide janitorial services and train workers to enter the workforce at the same time. The Legion Foundation says this is the type of program they like to support.
"It's going for a good cause. It's helping people to help themselves. We don't believe in giving out grants for statues or memorials because that is something different. It's got to go to a good use," said Foundation Director Ed Reiter.
The American Legion Foundation of Iowa splits their annual donations between veteran's hospitals, education scholarships and charitable organizations. The Legion Foundation gave Goodwill a grant last year which was also used for janitorial equipment.
