Facilities Management Gets Help From Students
The Undergraduate Council of Students and Facilities Management departments at Harvard University have teamed up to publicize the custodial and maintenance services offered throughout campus. According to The Brown Daily Herald, bathrooms throughout the university have been difficult to keep clean and the school is asking students to do their part.
It was decided that posters would be displayed in residence hall bathrooms to encourage students to call the facilities management department if they see problems like bodily fluids or broken fixtures.
According to the article, cleaning services are offered 24 hours a day and employees are trained to deal with cleaning hazardous substances and bodily fluids.
One custodian comments that the staff is always prepared to respond to cleaning needs, but rarely are they notified. They hope that the posters will encourage students to call, preventing a small problem from becoming too big.
