After 40 years and three different owners, Cape Fear Janitorial Supply in Fayetteville, NC continues to thrive in the cleaning industry. What was once a two and a half person janitorial company has become a staff of eight with customers such as churches, schools and colleges as far away as Oregon.

To turn the company around, J.D. Brock, owner, updated the product mix and hired more staff. Initially this proved to be a lot of work because of the training, but according to Brock, "there's always a price to be paid for success." That proved true as he helped grow his customer base by aggressively marketing the company through word-of-mouth and getting involved within the community.

Although Brock is happy with his success, he comments that there are still plenty of opportunities to grow the company. "Customers worry about bacteria and contamination," says Brock. He is also busy helping customers navigate through federal government regulations regarding cleaning chemicals and environmentally friendly cleaning.
