Roughly 1,400 janitors in Kansas City have been working for nearly six months without a contract. According to The Kansas City Star, that is about to change. Janitors agreed to a four-year pact that provides gains in wages and work rules.
As listed in the article, the new contract will allow janitors at a dozen local cleaning companies a 23 percent increase in wages over the live of the agreement, including a 6 percent pay boost in the first year. The new pay scale will take effect July 1.
