California University Joins Green Cleaning Movement
The Environmental Protection Agency reports that most people take about 90 percent of their breaths indoors, meaning living and working indoors can expose people to a host of pollutants in amounts dozens of times higher than they experience outdoors. Embracing that statistic, the University of California - Santa Cruz (UCSC) and its surrounding county have embraced green cleaning.
According to the Santa Cruz Sentinel, green cleaning is catching on in companies, schools and government agencies. UCSC officials comment that the university's interest in less toxic cleaning products is built upon earlier successes to green campus building policies.
