ASHES Remembers Industry Icon
It is with great sadness ASHES announces the passing of board vice president James “Jim” P. Connors, CHESP on Sunday, May 6, 2007 of pancreatic cancer. Jim was 61 years old.
Jim dedicated his professional career to the ASHES organization and to the pursuit of excellence in healthcare environmental and textile services for over 35 years. He served with integrity, dignity and honor and was an extraordinary leader, motivator, educator and selfless mentor.
Jim had been recognized with every honor from the ASHES organization, including ASHES highest honor-the Phoenix award, as well as the James Wolfbrant Mentor award, and most recently the Lifetime Achievement award. There was nothing that Jim Connors had not done for the love of ASHES members, the organization and for the profession of healthcare environmental and textile services. Jim has left an enormous imprint on the hearts of the membership and all those whose lives he touched.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife Maryellen and three sons, Tim, David and Mark. Jim also leaves behind his dedicated and much loved staff of environmental and textile services at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I. in addition to his many friends and colleagues.
ASHES has set up a blog for friends, family and members to post their thoughts and reflections on Jim and how he has impacted their life. For more information, please visit www.ashes.org
