ISSA reports that Rubbermaid Commercial Products, LLC (RCP), Winchester, VA, has earned the the Circle of Humanitarians Award from the The American Red Cross. According to an RCP press release, the award is the Red Cross’ highest organizational honors and was presented to RCP for the company’s assistance in the wake of the destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina.

The award was presented to RCP President Larry McIsaac in person by Red Cross representatives, including Laurie Rhinehart, the organization’s director of disaster fundraising.

The disaster relief response following Hurricane Katrina was the largest ever managed by the Red Cross and involved establishing and maintaining 1,200 emergency shelters across 27 states and delivering relief services to more than one-half million people.

Accepting the award on behalf of RCP, Larry McIsaac said, “Once again, we have reason to be proud of our organization, said McIsaac. “Taking the lead in times of great need is part of the character of a great company—of a leader. In this event, it was particularly heartening to see associates from across our organization—from our Ohio and Tennessee facilities as well as here in Winchester—eager to make personal contributions and have RCP play a meaningful part in the relief. We’re very grateful to the Red Cross for clearing the path, enabling help to get to people in need.”

RCP , a division of Newell Rubbermaid, Inc., offers RCP innovative products and system solutions for the foodservice, cleaning, safety, material handling, waste, and agriculture industries.
