L.A. Nonprofit Employs Underserved With Cleaning
The L.A. Habilitation House (LAHH), a nonprofit run by Guido Piccarolo and Nancy Albin, has two divisions. The first is a training facility where they teach the (OS1) high-performance cleaning system and techniques to disabled men and women. The second is a small contract cleaning company that employs seven graduates so far.
By utilizing streamlined cleaning methods and ergonomic tools like the ergonomic and high-efficiency ProTeam backpack vacuum and Unger restroom cleaning system, LAHH has helped to empower an underserved population — Including veterans returning from Iraq — to find employment and independence.
“The tools are really helpful, especially when you need to be able to train an exceptional workforce,” says Piccarolo. “They give the cleaning process dignity. They make them feel like they can do it. We love our work. We create employment. It makes a big difference.”
