Waterless Urinal: Green Team Finds Big Savings
In 2007, an employee of Precision Dynamics, a San Fernando, California, manufacturer, suggested the firm become more sustainable by recycling, reducing waste, and using energy and water more efficiently.
Agreeing with the staffer, the company created a “Green Team” to develop a sustainable program for the company.
Among the first things to go were Styrofoam cups. Energy-efficient lighting systems were installed and Green cleaning products, which are more sustainable, are now used to clean the offices.
When it came to saving water, an ongoing problem in drought-stricken California, the team decided to install eight waterless urinals, manufactured by Waterless No-Flush.
And what a savings! In the first year alone, the company saved 416,000 gallons of water and reduced water costs by $12,362.
Today, the company touts it sustainability in marketing materials and, even more important, has dedicated itself to operating in a Green and sustainable manner from here on out.
