Cleaning Machine: Tests Look at Inherent Cleaning Ability

Company Website

An independent study comparing the cleaning effectiveness of a string mop, a polyester microfiber flat mop, and the Transport Cleaning System (TCS) from Pro-Link, Inc., has just been released.

Tests were conducted on a 324-square-inch tiled restroom floor. No cleaning chemicals were used; researchers wanted to know how well the machines remove microbial residue purely on their own merit.

The floor was first analyzed to determine the number of microbial and biochemical soils on the floor. This served as a benchmark for the evaluations.

Here are the test results:

• Approximately 81 percent of microbial residue was removed from the tile surface using the string and flat mop systems.

• About 25 percent of the microbial residue was removed from grout areas using the string or flat mop systems.

• The TCS system removed 98 percent of the microbial residue from both the tile and the grout.
