Green NEWS
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Washington, D.C., has created a work group committed to developing a proposal that would allow companies to make “green” claims and use eco-labels in conjunction with the promotion and marketing of disinfectants, sanitizers and possibly other EPA-registered pesticide products.

The group was established for the purpose of making recommendations to the EPA Office of Pesticide Programs regarding the use of green claims in the promotion of EPA-registered pesticide products. Bill Balek, ISSA director of legislative affairs and Stephen Askin, president of The Ashkin Group LLC, were appointed co-chairs of the committee.
The EPA agreed to review its current policy at the request of ISSA and others that have pushed for a new policy that allows companies to make objective and verifiable claims regarding the environmental, safety and health attributes of disinfectants and sanitizers.
