H1N1 Safety Procedures In Effect At MGM

The recent outbreak of the H1N1 virus has casinos across the country implementing various safety measures to ensure the health of their patrons. At MGM Mirage the reaction to the virus is no different then the standard procedures already in effect throughout their casinos, according to reports from CasinoGamingStock.net. In 2002, with the threat of the Norovirus, Tim Jones Executive Director of Health and Safety instituted health guidance procedures.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that common areas are cleaned once a day. MGM casinos have made it standard practice to wash down public surfaces at the end of every shift. MGM casinos operate three shifts a day.

Hand sanitizer is made available in convention areas. Adding hand-sanitizing dispensers to casino areas might be considered, Jones said.

“It’s really more of a refresher for our employees, such as making sure you wash your hands regularly,” Jones said. “We have a standard procedure of washing down public surfaces once a shift.”
