Touch-free Fixtures: Recent Study Confirms Need for Door Opener
A recent study by Microbiological Testing & Consulting, Inc., and the National Center for Infectious Diseases, of random washroom door handles in health care, restaurant, leisure and hotel facilities show that 90 percent of the door handles were contaminated with bacteria. Fifty-five percent could be identified as being harmful to humans.
Previous studies found that 1 out of 3 people do not wash their hands after using the washroom. This study dramatically illustrates cross-contamination health hazards associated with touching public washroom door handles.
Technical Concepts, a leading provider of innovative hygiene solutions for the washroom, confirms an increasing interest in the AutoDoor Opener, a highly cost-effective system that automates virtually any new or existing non-latching washroom doors, allowing a touch-free exit out of away from home washrooms, eliminating the final point of cross-contamination.
The washroom door opens by placing a hand in front of the touch-free sensor to activate. The AutoDoor Opener is not attached to the door; therefore the door can still be easily opened by hand. An optional second sensor will make the entry of the washroom touch-free as well, further increasing hygiene.
Contrary to other automated door opening systems, the AutoDoor Opener utilizes existing door closers and frames, keeping it simple and cost effective. The AutoDoor Opener complies with ADA and ANSI requirements and is safe and convenient.
