Matting: Reducing Tracked In Dirt

Stork Food Systems, Stork, N.V. has a lot of foot traffic between the manufacturing plant area and the engineering offices. A combination of metal shavings, dirt and oil from the poultry processing equipment plant was often tracked onto carpets, making cleaning difficult.

ITW Alma CleanStepTM 26-inch by 32-inch adhesive mats were positioned in heavy traffic areas and they significantly reduced the amount of contamination tracked into the office. But, the small size did not allow for complete coverage of foot traffic.

Working with ITW Alma, Stork Food Systems implemented a walk-off mat to be used in conjunction with the CleanStep Adhesive Mat. By using the two mats in tandem, more contamination was removed from shoes and boots before entering the engineering office.

According to Stork Foods representatives, the placement of the two mats together resulted in a dramatic reduction in carpet contamination. After four months in place, the carpet has no noticeable build-up of contaminates in the usual high-traffic areas.

As a result of ITW Alma’s help, Stork Food Systems has incorporated the CleanStep Adhesive Mat into its regular maintenance program.
