Floor Care: A Buzz About A Stripper

A buzz was in the air as a dozen custodians at Lyndon State College, Lyndonville, Vermont, eagerly awaited a demonstration by jansan distributor Howard Beede, with SwichKenco, of a new certified-green floor stripper.

Beede mixed one quart of ES90, an environmentally preferable stripper developed by Enviro-Solutions, with four gallons of cool water.

Beede then went to work stripping a small area of flooring. As the work began, the custodians all noted something they had not expected. There was little odor, indicating the limited impact the stripper has on indoor air quality.

However, the custodians already knew the product is certified green, so they expected it to have minimal negative impact on the environment. But the big question was whether it works.

After Beede stripped the floor area, he performed a clean water rinse, and let dry. Then the custodians gathered around to see the results. One by one, smiles came over their faces. The floor looked good. In fact, one custodian said after using ES90, “It was the best the floor had looked in years.”
